Professor Zhang Xiang Gave the Lecture about Cultural Soft Power and International Negotiations

On December19,Professor Zhang Xiang, the executive director of the China International Economic and Exchange Center, Secretary-General of Boao Forum for Asia and former vice minister of Ministry of Foreign Trade, held a report of " Cultural Soft Power and International Negotiations"atJiulonghu Campus.

Professor Zhang Xiang started the report by the introduction of "Shanghai Metro." By means of sharing the views that the loan negotiations andbusinessnegotiation must be separated in international negotiations, as well as negotiations with different countries require joint operations, he believes proper business negotiations must act decisively and to seek the best combination, so as to make decision-making more scientific and accurate. This is the first time for Chinese to knock on the door of the international capitalist market with mature mind. Afterwards, Professor Zhang led us to review the classic moments in international negotiations, which made us realize that the art of negotiation is sincere treatment instead of double benefit.

First of all, Professor Zhang vividly conveyed the main content, the knowledge of types, patterns, characteristics, and basic principles of the international negotiations. Secondly, in order tocontrol the international negotiation process, feasibility studies, self-analysisand analyzes of opponents are indispensable. Last but not the least,Professor Zhang enumerated some of the profound and appropriate case to help students have a better understanding of negotiation strategy.

Eventually, ProfessorZhang analyzed the culturalsoft powerand differences. When it comes to the skills of negotiation with the United States, professor Zhang concluded that it is better to use dedicated and vague diplomaticlanguage and clarify the basic perspective without principle concessions. These are all mirrors that reflect the important role the cultural soft power plays in the international negotiations.

At the end of the report, dean Xu made a wonderful conclusion. By attendingthis lecture,all the teachers and students had a better understanding of cultural soft power and international negotiations and benefit a lot.
