School of Economics and Management of Southeast University successfully held an academic forum on "Trade Liberalization and Regional Economic Integration in an Open World Economy"

From May 13th to 15th, the Academic Forum on "Trade Liberalization and Regional Economic Integration in an Open World Economy" was successfully held in our school. The forum was hosted by the School of Economics and Management of Southeast University, and organized by the Institute of International Economics of Southeast University and Jiangsu Economic Globalization Research Center. One hundred and ten representatives from Tsinghua University, Peking University, China Europe International Business School, Fudan University, Zhejiang University, Sun Yat-sen University, Nankai University, Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, Nanjing University, Southeast University, Nanjing Agricultural University, Hefei University of Technology, Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, Southwest University of Finance and Economics, Nanjing Normal University, Nanjing University of Finance and Economics, Monash University-Southeast University Joint Graduate School, Suzhou University of Science and Technology, etc., attended the forum.  

 The opening ceremony of the forum on May 14th was hosted by Prof. Qiu Bin, Distinguished Professor of Southeast University, Jiangsu Province "333" Science and Technology Leading Talent, Director of the Institute of International Economic of Southeast University, Executive Director of the Chinese Society of World Economics and Deputy Secretary-General of the Sino-US Economics Association. Professor Yuan Jianhong, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Economics and Management of Southeast University, delivered a welcome speech. Then, Huang Dawei, Vice President of Southeast University, and Xu Zhishun, Vice President of Jiangsu Provincial Social Science Federation, delivered speeches. Professor Tian Suhua from School of Economics, Fudan University, Assistant Professor Pan Lijun from School of Business, Nanjing University, Professor Lu Jing from School of Economics, Zhejiang University, Professor Hong Jin from School of Economics, Hefei University of Technology, and Professor Qiu Bin from School of Economics and Management, Southeast University delivered speeches sequentially.

 The first stage of the forum was hosted by Professor Tian Suhua, Vice Dean of School of Economics, Fudan University. Professor Zhong Funing, Zhong Shan Scholar, Distinguished Professor and Director of Institute of Agricultural Economics from School of Economics and Management, Nanjing Agricultural University, gave a keynote speech on "New Economic Environment, New Trade Conflict". Professor Wu Jinglian, Chair Professor of Economics and Professor Xu Bin, Vice Provost of ChinaEurope International Business School, gave a keynote speech on "China's Balance of Payments and Economic Prospects under the Double-Cycle”. Professor Li Kunwang, School of Economics, Nankai University, gave a keynote speech on "Income Distribution and Improvement of the Internal Cycle".

 The second stage of the forum was hosted by Professor Wei Hao from the School of Economics and Business Administration of Beijing Normal University and Professor Yu Linhui, Deputy Director of the Institute of International Economics of Zhejiang University. Professor Yu Miaojie, Party Secretary and Vice President of National Development Institute of Peking University, gave a keynote speech on "Building a Double-Cycle in the New Development Pattern". Professor Lu Yi, Director of the International Economic Research Center from School of Economics and Management of Tsinghua University, gave a keynote speech on "Cross-Strait Electronic Information Industry Chain Development under the New Normal of China-US Relations". Professor Luo Changyuan, Vice President of Shanghai Institute of International Finance and Economics and President of Shanghai World Economics Association from School of Economics of Fudan University, gave a keynote speech on "Going Global: Evidence from a Quasi-Natural Experiment based on ‘Belt and Road’ Construction".

 The third stage of the forum was hosted by Professor Yu Jinping, Vice Dean of Business School of Nanjing University, and Associate Professor He Yumei, School of Economics and Management of Southeast University. Qian Xuefeng, Dean of School of Business Administration, Zhongnan University of Economics and Law, gave a keynote speech on "Trade Interests of China's Provincial Regions since WTO Accession and Their Influencing Factors". Professor Shen Guobing, Deputy Director of Institute of World Economy, Professor of School of Economics of Fudan University, and Researcher of Shanghai Institute of International Finance and Economics, gave a keynote speech on "Implementation of RCEP Agreement and Export Diversification - Evidence from China". Professor Huang Xinfei, Dean of School of International Finance, Sun Yat-sen University, gave a keynote speech on "Cross-Regional Economic Exchanges and Employment Research under Double-Cycle - Evidence Based on Micro-Behavior".

 The fourth stage of the forum was hosted by Professor Chen Weiguang, Editor-in-Chief of International Economic and Trade Exploration of Guangdong University of Foreign Studies. Professor Zhu Jing, Dean of School of Economics and Management, Nanjing Agricultural University, gave a keynote speech on "China's Food Security in an Open Economy - Rule Binding and Goal Compatibility". Professor Lu Jing, Deputy Director of Department of International Economics and Trade of School of Economics of Zhejiang University, gave a speech on "Multilateral or Bilateral: Rethinking the Construction Mechanism of FTA". Professor Wu Huaqing, Director of Finance Department and Professor of School of Economics, Hefei University of Technology, gave a keynote speech on "China City Economic Development Quality Report". Assistant Professor Wang Zi, School of Business, Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, gave a keynote speech on "Armington Elasticities and the Third Country Effects of Trade Policies".  

 The fifth stage of the forum was hosted by Yin Lifei, Editor-in-Chief of the viewpoint channel of the South magazine of the CPC Guangdong Provincial Committee, and Professor Shi Xing, Director of the Social Science Division of the Research Institute from School of Economics of Hefei University of Technology. Professor Han Yonghui from the School of Economics and Trade of Guangdong University of Foreign Studies gave a keynote speech on "Industrial Structure Distance and Chinese Enterprises' Cross-Border M&A - Based on the Analysis of New Structural Economics". Professor Li Bing from Lingnan College of Sun Yat-sen University gave a keynote speech on "Import Competition or Industrial Transfer - New Evidence to Refute the ‘China Syndrome’". Professor Tan Yong from School of International Business and Economics, Nanjing University of Finance and Economics, gave a keynote speech on "Exporting, Abatement, and Firm-Level Emissions: Evidence from China's Accession to the WTO". Assistant Professor Pan Lijun from School of Business of Nanjing University gave a keynote speech on "Horizontal Merger Analysis with Endogenous Product Range Choice".

 At the end of the forum, Professor Qiu Bin from Southeast University made a concluding speech. He thanked all the experts and scholars for coming to Nanjing and gathering at Southeast University, looking forward to the prospect of an open world economy, discussing the theoretical frontiers and major practical issues such as "trade liberalization" and "regional economic integration" and giving their insights. The speech announced the ending of the forum.
