On August 30th, the School of Economics and Management of Southeast University received more than 200 new postgraduates in the mild weather. According to the welcoming theme “The school’s new appearance we bring at the beginning, the future we embrace with creativity and sharing”, the heads of the school, teachers, welcoming volunteers, the Postgraduate Union of the school, and the workers of the Pioneer Party Construction Workstation carried out a thorough welcoming event.
Yuan Jianhong, the Party Secretary of the School, He Yi, the Deputy Party Secretary and Assistant Dean of the School, Pu Zhengning, Assistant Dean of the School, Postgraduate counselors including Shi Yani, Chen Fenglong, Sun Liang, Wang Xiaotong, Zheng Kairong, and other heads and teachers welcomed the new postgraduates in the name of the school and helped them to carry out preparation works.
At the scene of the welcoming event, Party Secretary Yuan Jianhong, Deputy Party Secretary He Yi, and Assistant Dean Pu Zhengning had a close interaction with new students and gave their regard to the welcoming volunteers, encouraging new students to make good use of their precious time, establish future goals and work hard for becoming the leading talent in the incoming digital economic age in their postgraduate period.
Beside the entrance of the E&M building, every new student put a fragment on the picture puzzle wall which contained more than 200 pieces, symbolizing the cohesion and confidence of the new students of the School of Economics and Management to construct the big E&M family together.
Entering the hall of the E&M building, new students would find the carefully-designed background plate catching their sights, with Shiba Inu, the E&M mascot, so true to life in the picture, marking the beginning of a new journey for new students.
Under the guidance of welcoming volunteers, new students were divided into classes to register with a simple procedure and clear segments. Senior students as welcoming volunteers from all majors wore uniform cultural shirts and work cards, helping new students check their information, receive and dispatch documents, register and go through enrollment procedures, and answer questions about studying, living, and so on.
Student Wu, who was in the second year of his master’s degree, said that he had enjoyed the humanistic care of the School of Economics and Management as a new student last year and chose to carry this touching feeling on to others. From preparation work to the registering scene, he had brought the uplifting spirit of E&M people and caring service to new students.
Considering students who were delayed from coming back to school and parents unable to accompany their children due to epidemic prevention, the school specially created the online “Cloud Registering” to live cast the welcome scene, including interviewing new students and welcoming volunteers, exploring the secret present to new students, and gaining a first-hand view to the event. The present for E&M new students which had gained so much attention contained a bag of custom-made E&M jelly, custom-made E&M stationary, and a custom-made E&M blind box for new students. The blind box includes different types of card covers and key rings with technical terms of the three main majors of E&M school printed upon them, combining both E&M characteristics and practicality.
The student organizations of the School of Economics and Management also prepared surprises with school characteristics for new students.
The school’s Postgraduates Union prepared little circular fans and bottled water printed with the motto “Benefit the world and all people with economic sights, manage all situations with balanced rights” of the E&M school. With an ivory background and bluish school logo entwining on the cover, it became the popular item with the most sense of design.
Some new students chose to hand in their applications for entering the Party on the first day of school, staunching their faith at the beginning of the school year. Also, the Pioneer Party Construction Workstation prepared “Movie tickets” and “Movie boxes” especially for new Party member students, which contained the Party logo, a badge, and other essential items for future in-Party political life.
“The school’s new appearance we bring at the beginning, the future we embrace with creativity and sharing”. All 223 postgraduate new students enrolled in time and became a member of the big E&M family. We sincerely wish that every new member can aim at absolute perfection and open a new chapter in their life!
